Our reason for asking is we set up a stand alone page for our artwork , photography etc and it’s super hard running two accounts across 3 platforms making 6 pages to update manually. We’ve looked at the content style and we really feel like a lot of it blends nicely, and don’t personally feel like it would be a distraction from our usual Sen related posts, but of course we would prefer some feedback.

If it would work well with you guys, our website will be split from a main landing page. One to access the current Sen pages / support info etc and another to access our small business. It would only be our social media pages that share a feed, although as I say a lot blends well considering the type of work we will be posting.

It would be easier to stick with our That SEND mama handle rather than ‘part of’ added to another handle in the long run 🥹

I get a lot of messages from people praising our efforts and how they ‘couldn’t do what we do’ with our home educated kids. Assuming it’s 24/7 non stop when really I get far more credit than I deserve, and the real efforts are behind the scenes with the huge help from my small family, particularly my husband and eldest child.

Home educating for us is nothing like school and we stress this to anyone interested in exploring their options. We don’t follow curriculum and we don’t have a rigid schedule. It’s very child led, meaning we do exactly what we want when we want and where we want. This works fantastic for us because of our lifestyle, and may not work for everyone due to work commitments and other factors. I am blessed enough to have a hard working husband and I have the ability to work from home so it just works for us.

What you don’t see though, which we don’t post about much because we try stick to positive posts, is all the battles we face behind the scenes. Bonnie’s behaviour is challenging and paired with my medical conditions, most of our adventures are not as ‘easy’ as our posts show at first glance.

What you don’t see is how riddled in pain I am constantly, the constant help and support I personally need from my family and the fact I try not to go out alone with Bonnie just incase she elopes (unless she’s got her harness on) because I just cannot chase her. It scares me that my 7 year old can out run me and my pain prevents me from moving fast enough to keep her safe. What you also don’t see is the impact a ‘day out’ has on my body. We’ve just got back from a weekend away and I can barely move having slept in a different bed to what I’m use to and the changes mentally over the weekend have overwhelmed me too, I feel like locking the doors and sitting in a quiet room so over the next few days we will be relaxing to regulate again.

I often have mum guilt, I can’t run round with my kids like I use to do. But I show up. You’ll find me sat down with my camera, but I’m there. You’ll find me taking a break in a quieter spot of a venue, but I’m there.

It isn’t about being perfect. It’s about trying.

Road trip ready and I just wanted to show off some of our bargain buys from @sheinofficial @shein_gb because we’re bargain birds 🤣♥️ I have got so many you’ll probably see in our upcoming posts but today were rocking some nostalgic assss F Scooby Doo and Bonnie has her SpongeBob matching set and croc style sandals on. The lads in my house cost a fortune to cloth in their sports wear but me and Bonnie are loving the fun outfits. Big up the plus sizes too! I always get a 4xl in T-shirts because I like them massive on me and they all fit exactly how I wanted them to!

Disgusted yet again by another ‘small local business’ and their ‘followers’. At this point I’m just bookmarking it. Not naming them, Iv had my own opinion on this establishment (and a few others locally, don’t worry your time will come, I’m resting, not dead) for their shitty snide underhand and rude behaviour.

I just find it extremely funny how the second someone has a negative thing to say about one of these establishments, all their ‘we’re supportive, we help the community, we don’t like seeing or hearing negative things’ goes out the window. After accusing anyone who’s honest, as being a ‘bully’ . It’s a different story isn’t it when it’s them being reviewed or discussed negatively and they allow their own platforms to become a viscous read encouraging their own followers to mock other locals just simply for having an opinion based on their own experience.

I draw the line at locals mocking children or parents for their disability though. I guarantee none of you would say that to the face of a disabled child’s parent as confidently as you do behind your phone screens you absolute weapons.

Are you not embarrassed? If you stumble across this post and think it’s aimed at you then it probably is and I have already got an insurance policy of my own saved for a rainy day when I don’t have as much going on in the background and I can make time to terrorise you all publicly too, one by one you’ll all have your day.

Got the panelling LED done today. I just need to touch the paint up when it’s fully dry and set. I have to fill that fussy funky wall with more mini frames and random weird things for her as and when we find them and we have some other bits coming later but I think she loves it 🥹 on the hunt for a very funky light shade now we’ve fixed her ceiling electrics , the little shit. X

Made a good start on the little shits room. Fixed the electrics in the ceiling without blowing myself up, with help from Bailey 😂 painted her wall and added her lights. Still need to install the led in the panelling and add the dado to finish it off and hang some more frames near her tv but it’s nearly done 😍

I honestly didn’t think today could get any worse but it just keeps getting better and it’s gone 10pm now 😂 Iv had the busiest couple of weeks , last week nearly every day I was in Leeds at an appointment for something or another. I had another appointment late yesterday afternoon that drained every bit of energy I had left from me and I needed a couple of days to regulate and chill out so today was meant to be a lazy day. A lazy day I said……

Bonnie has tested that plan to its limits and has had a fun packed day consisting of ripping the electrics out of the ceiling leaving exposed live wires , we tried to fix it and broke the bracket so the whole thing is fucked now 😂

That left me with no other option but to collapse her bed and finally put up the disability bed we were awarded last year (that I didn’t think we needed once she settled into the high sleeper). I’m SOOO glad we got it, because she’s proved she can’t be safe near anything including the lights! So, bed dismantled and disability one built. Had to also collapse her bookshelves because now she has no floor space there’s no room for that too! NIGHTMARE 😂

Since I was on a roll I might as well freshen up the walls eh. Left the paint on the side for exactly 13 minutes while I took a call and come back to her painting too 😫 she was probably just trying to help but FML just chill pleaseeeee child 😂

Fell off her new bed backwards and ended up with a bruise on her bum from falling onto her toy car.

Repeated a few choice words I had today so her vocabulary is excellent 😂

I don’t drink, but I’d like a triple vodka and fresh air please.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings 😂💓

We just want to thank the lovely staff at @specsavers (Leeds LS26 Rothwell branch) for their kindness and understanding today when dealing with our neurodivergent family.

I booked myself and both the kids in for eye tests, none of us have been for a long time (Bonnie never at all). Unfortunately, she was not very impressed with the concept and was quite firm with that despite the lovely lady doing the first stage of the tests. Such a gentle, kind lady but Bonnie is very strong minded so we will wait till she’s a bit older and try again. The optician also tried, a lovely gentleman who shared lots of ideas and his recommendations with us and was super understanding also. With his sheer determination and perseverance we managed to do a short eye test where Bonnie could read some letters but that was as much as she was willing to endure today without knacking me or the staff 🤣

It’s really important, no matter how upsetting for Bonnie, that we try and build up her confidence for further appointments and it makes it so much easier for us when people are kind and accepting of us. We didn’t feel uncomfortable or like we were unwanted which was really nice as this isn’t always the case. So whilst we didn’t get what we needed done, our experience was made as pleasant as possible by their amazing staff and that’s a reason to return later ♥️

Bailey got some new glasses and Iv got some eye medication and we were on our way!

Better luck for us next time with Bonnie! Xx
